How to determine your email client version

To use the Microsoft 365 or the UCI Google Workspace for Education (GWE) email service, you must use an OAuth-compatible email client. Clients that support OAuth can take advantage of important security features such as UCI Single Sign-On and Duo two-factor authentication.

The following mail clients have been tested and are compatible. If you are running a different client or an older version, and your computer is managed by your department, please partner with your CSC for assistance with upgrading.

Table of Contents

Microsoft Outlook for Windows

Minimum supported version: Outlook 365, Outlook 2021, or Outlook 2019. Outlook 2016 will work if it's the non-MSI version.

On a PC, select File from the menu bar and select Office Account (in the left column near the bottom). The version number should be on the right side under the heading About Outlook (Outlook 2016 users will need to select the About Outlook button). If you see the phrase 'Click-to-Run' next to the 'Build Number,' that means you are NOT running the MSI version and you are fine.

We offer Microsoft 365 for free to students and to non-UCI Health employees. If you work for the College of Health Sciences or the Medical Center, please contact the HS Help Desk at (714) 456-3333 to obtain your copy of Office.
